Yarns is Bridport Museum Trust’s oral history project, funded
by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and undertaken during 2006 &
2007. It set out, using local volunteers, to record a wide variety
of memories and recollections from residents in and around Bridport
and along the Dorset Heritage Coast from West Bexington in the East
to Charmouth in the West.
The recordings collected will be preserved as an archive by the
museum to enrich the understanding, for residents and visitors alike,
of this physically diverse, beautiful part of Dorset and the influence
its historic role in the production of rope, nets & twine had
on local people’s lives.
